APPRENTICE

NADINE PIMENTEL

I’m so grateful that I have this opportunity to be here surrounded by people who care about me and my growth.
Throughout my whole life I have expressed my creativity through art, whether drawing or jamming poorly with friends. Anime was a big part of my upbringing that I still enjoy and draw inspiration from to this day. During the pandemic I reflected on my path and grew tired of working towards a weekend. I wanted to put myself in a position where I can grow in ways that excite me, and so I decided to pursue the journey of becoming a tattoo artist. I am in the process of developing my style under the guidance of my mentor Ms. Ting, and am currently able to do black work.

As a queer Filipino, I feel fortunate that I have finally found a passion and place that lets me express myself just as I am. It’s important to me that I make you feel just as safe and supported at Shanghai Tattoo as they have done for me. Honesty and communication are very important to me and I think that’s the key to creating something we both can be proud of. - Nadine
